Where do we go from here?

"Today is the beginning of a new era, the end of the Malaysian Girls pageant..."

How true it was for the cast on 15 January 2012. After spending 4 months together, it was time to say goodbye and move on to other things. So what has been happening since? Well, a few girls are getting themselves busy preparing for other shows!

BB(JJ Adams), Alexis(Tracy Starr), Anrie(Lin Lin), Sandee(Cassandra Lee), basically dived into another production. BB is currently rehearsing for "Boom" which will debut on 17 Feb, whille the other 3 are rehearsing for "Dead Man's Cell Phone", premiering  on 14 Mar, both at klpac. Interestingly, Sandee is also perparing for the restaging of "Shakespeare Demystified: The Merchant of Venice" at penangpac on 8 Mar. How she can rehearse for 2 plays at the same time is beyond me...

Amanda(Daphne Wong) was supposed to be in "Dead Man's Cell Phone" but somehow she dropped out - not sure what she's up to next but she was involved in "Relationship Status" which ended its run at selected TGV cinemas yesterday. If you didn't see it, it's your loss!

Freddy(Gucci Lim) has also started rehearsing for "Corporal PUNishment" as the director/writer. This should be a crazy show not to be missed. Who would want to miss Gucci Lim's first paid show as a director?

Tabitha(Serenity Billion) is probably taking a rest before starting her rehearsal for the restaging of "The Last Five Years" with Jon Chew, which should happen in June 2012. Probably the same for Aminda(Natasha B) has she has "Platform" slotted for May 2012. The same with Siti Farah(Jasmine Hibiscus), who will probably be involved in Kelvin Wong's last "Indicinelive!" in June/July.

Shiva(Rani) is in New York City auditioning for her Masters of Fine Arts. Hopefully I won't be seeing her soon. Character-wise, she was my favourite Malaysian Girl:)

Aliaa(Shakila Waheeda), the baby of the cast, is performing her umrah at the moment. Which means, I'll have to call her Hajjah Aliaa when I see her again. Hopefully she will be doing more shows and not stop here. She has much potential.

Pooja(Padma Padmavati) is in Singapore pursuing her studies and it will be a while before she steps onto stage again. Oh well, at least she is happy with her boyfriend there.

Aanantha(Ray Sanjay) is back on the airwaves with THR Raaga, Zoe(Sydney Belle) just came from Thailand celebrating her birthday, and Amelia(Charyse Devine) is probably preparing for Tapis Rouge Comedy Night : THE PLAYGROUND! which is happening on 31 Jan. Amelia was also the assistant director for "Relationship Status", by the way.

All 15 cast members accounted for... except yours truly(Bata Tan) & Mrs yours truly(Miss Lim). While I've started my new job as club manager in Gorgeous Fitness Bandar Puteri, she is in the process of handing over her job to her successor. However that doesn't mean we are not gonna be shaking our legs for 2012. More or less, we will be involved in Short + Sweet 2012, unless we have a paid production to do during the period of Sept./Oct. I sort of have 2 other projects in hand but I have not heard anything from the producer since we spoke in Dec 2011. Maybe I should give him a call....

Also, this weekend we'll be going to a closed audition for "Paper Crane", another Joe Hasham musical. While I am not particularly jumping with joy to do another Joe Hasham musical(dah basi!), I would, however, be excited if I can play a lead role for a change. It would be even better if we both can play the lead roles:)

Year 2011 has been great for both of us and hopefully 2012 will be even more interesting as we step out of our comfort zones and make some changes.

Oh, to those who are surprised, shocked, disappointed or upset that I am now working with the competitor, I only have this message for you:

Umbrella - the blue black remix

You broke my heart
And you treat me like another tart
May be in magazines
But I'll always have the scars
Baby cause in the dark
I still remember that you hit hard
And that's when you whack me there
With you I'm always scared
Because

[Chorus]
from the start you promised my father
Told him you'd be there forever
Said you'd always be a friend
Took an oath you'd stick it out till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
You didn't treat me a little better
Just bash me with my umbrella
You just bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

These news reports, will never come in between
You're like a foul disease, here for infinity
When the law has done it's part
When the world has dealt it's cards
Even though the hand is hard, I don't think you'll ever stop
Because

[Chorus]
from the start you promised my father
Told him you'd be there forever
Said you'd always be a friend
Took an oath you'd stick it out till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
You didn't treat me a little better
Just bash me with my umbrella
You just bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

[Bridge]
You promised me you'll do no harm
that I should never be alarmed
Oh silly me
(When you put on those boxing gloves)
You went on and close the door
Begged you to stop but you gave me more
Because

[Chorus]
from the start you promised my father
Told him you'd be there forever
Said you'd always be a friend
Took an oath you'd stick it out till the end
Now that it's raining more than ever
You didn't treat me a little better
You just bash me with my umbrella
You just bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Bash me with my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

I'm hurting
Ooh baby I'm bleeding
Baby stop hitting me
Stop hitting me
I'm hurting
Ooh baby I'm bleeding
Please stop hitting me
Stop hitting me

I'm feeling pain
I'm feeling pain
Stop hitting me
Stop hitting me

Get well soon, Rihanna!!!

My perfect match

As mentioned before, I have a problem with my BODYCOMBAT launch team. If you look at the latest pic below, it all looks alright.

MIRACLE 2008

However, when you get all of us to stand properly together, you get this.

I stood out like a middle finger

I'm head and shoulder taller than all of them! Not that it's bad, just that it doesn't look pleasing to the eye. The most ideal person to launch BC with is probably another regular member of the launch team Swee...

Just to clarify, she is not grabbing my butt with
her right hand... I think

Early June we had this Les Mills Quarterly Workshop and there's this guy who showed up.

everything also panjang

Meet Jun Wei from Singapore.

check out the wingspan

Apart from Swee, I reckon he's just the perfect partner for me.

Check out the pictures:

I feel like Tom Cruise next to Nicole Kidman

I feel so tiny...

So that's how it feels like to look up when you talk to someone....

breakthrough

Dunno if you ever felt you and your parner do not communicate on the same wave length?

Though we've been together for more than 3 years, I somehow feel that my gf fiance cannot see certain things from my point of view. It's like I'm always standing on a higher platform while she's down below.

Though we are close, we are quite different and I think this is hurting the relationship.

Fortunately, she took up this training over the weekend. So now, I think we now can talk the same language and understand each other better.

Marié Digby LIVE!

Marié Christina Digby was in town for a small concert. Since Gf is such a big admirer of her talents, we decided to go there for see her performance. Besides, it's all free.

I was there kinda early and the place was empty. Gf came later and we went for dinner at Delicious. By the time we finished dinner at about 7pm, there were a lot of people crowding together already.

More and more people came and we even had the TV stations and local celebreties joining the fan craze also.

From TV2

Cheryl Samad with a few fans

The show was supposed to start at 8pm but by the time the two DJs from Mixx FM came out, it was already 8.15pm

Still no signs of Marié Digby. Mixx FM brought out three contestants to compete who can sing the best version of "Say It Again". Just as the first contestant, a 12-yr-old girl, was about to sing, she finally appeared from the back of the stage and the crowd went NUTS!!!!!
She took a seat off the stage because she wanted to hear the renditions of her song. Anyhow, the girl did well, followed by a guy and another lady. It was quite obvious the crowd were all the way behind the little girl. The guy screwed up big time for being the only one with the lyrics on a paper and STILL forgot the words!
loser

The crowd were asked to judged who should the winner should be and get an autographed guitar. We were asked to cheer for whoever we want to. The lady got an ok response while the guy got loads of "boos"(from mostly male fans) for messing up the songs. Just like our election- we're not afraid to tell him what we think of his singing. The winner of course was our cute little girl. Then each of the contestants got a hug from Marié and again we boos our lungs off when the male contestant got his hug.
Thought we would finally get Marié Digby but it was Accoustis 39(hope I got the name right), our Malaysian which came in second in an online competition to find the best cover version of "Say It Again".

Didn't think much of them till they started singing... darn they're good with the harmonising!!!

At last, after waiting for almost 2 hours, we finally got what we came for....

She started with "Say It Again" before going to the electronic piano to do "Stupid For You". In betweens her songs, she would share a bit of what the song was about and it was kinda cool just having her playing with the guy on electric guitar.

Can't recall how many songs she sang but the fans totally ate up everything she had to offer. The biggest reaction came at the end when she did the song that made her famous on youtube.

The dude in front of me got so excited, the moment she started the first line, he just took out his umbrella and did this:

swinging the umbrella to the beat

Darn, if only I had thought of bringing umbrellas - I have 2 inside my car.

With the end of the concert, the crowd began to rush to the GAP store where she going to sign her autograph on the CDs.
In spite of me rushing, there was already a long queue- apparently they were lining up when she was still singing!

So gf and I duely too our spot and waited for our turn to get her autograph on the CD which I bought earlier at RM38.

The poster that came with the CD

While gf was queing, I decided to walk ahead to take some pictures... then I saw someone familiar...

Can you spot him?

Certifiable Steve of fatboybakes!

So I try to use my charm and asked him to help to get the autograph for me. He grudgingly obliged...

Gf and I continued in our queue, just in case the organizers decided to allow only 1 autograph per person. The scene got a bit out of control halfway with typical malaysians cutting queues. Fortunately for us, the head of security intervened and got the people to go to the end of the queue.
Thank you sir!

"All this can be handled easily... just like picking my nose"

True enough, despite Certifiable Steve's gallant effort, the powers-that-be only allowed 1 autograph and we continued with the queue.

Gf was getting tired so I continued in the queue to get the autograph. Thanks for the security's help the traffic was very smooth and soon it was my turn.

the gorgeous Marié Digby of jap-irish descent

Quite sure she's very tired as well, yet she still managed to smile at us

And so I got the autographed CD for Gf and she can strike it out of her wish list.
What did I get in return for all the effort?

A picture with a gym fan. *sigh*

Signature pose

It's amazing how the mention of certain personality/character will remind you of his/her signature pose.

For example, when I ask you to think of Ultraman, is this what you imagine?

What if I mention "John Travolta"?

Bruce Lee's most famous attire?

Wong Fei Hung?

Even for ladies, we have Marilyn Monroe...

These are classic examples that are hard to duplicate. Many have tried to invent their own signature and came out with nothing. I know I did.

Fortunately some people are just natural at it.

Don't you think so?

She asked me

Last Tuesday, went to Bangsar Village II for Häagen-Dazs "Eat All You Can" showdown with GF again.

Final Score?

15 : 10

No need to guess who the winner was. Also, no thanks to my lactose intollerent stomach, I went home and immediately rushed for the royal throne. Ahhh... the things we do for cheap ice-cream.

Anyhow, the highlight of the night was after I told her something about what I may be planning to do in June, she asked with a grin:

"You sure you're not gay?"

Thinking about it, I remember there was a text conversation I had with Jacqueline and one of the things that popped up was who I would be interested in if I were to hop over to the other camp... Before you all start getting excited or spreading wrong info around, this is just a hypothetical situation....

You want to know the answer?
